| Bofors 40 mm Guns The 40 mm field and naval guns that were developed for the prior-generation threat can now be given a new lease of life with the enhanced capability of combating the current aerial threat. Upgrading is carried out in stages using a modular programme and advanced ammunition. The programme consists of function packages that are designed to extend the life, improve the availability and performance of the gun, bringing it into line with today's systems, as well as reduce LCC. With the upgraded gun all existing 40 mm ammunition as well as Bofors' highly effective proximity-fuzed ammunition can be used. Handling is also easier, resulting in a smaller gun crew. The field version can have an integrated fire control or be connected to an external fire control. The naval version can be operated in local control or connected to an external fire control. The customer only requires a supplementary logistics programme. He already has the specific system know-how to enable him to carry out a large part of the retrofitting work and therefore keep costs to a minimum. |
